The Jiangzhou Drum Troupe

Established in 1988, The Jiangzhou Drum Troupe from Shanxi, is committed to the development of its Chinese traditional drum music - a village plaza art with a strong ethnic heritage - into contemporary stage performance. In the past years, the Ensemble has performed in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and many other Chinese cities. The group has appeared twice in the CCTV Spring Festival Evenings, as well as several events for international cultural exchanges. The Ensemble has visited Denmark, Morocco, Singapore, Malaysia, and Korea, and has also toured Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The Ensemble as been cited as "a creation that is at the top international level" and "one of the three best drum ensembles in the world" in competitions throughout China. Five CD and VCD albums have been made of the Ensemble's performances in Hong Kong and Taiwan, topping for a time the bestseller list in Taiwan, and winning a platinum disk in Hong Kong.
